I plan on transferring to Orange Coast College after 1 sem. at UH Manoa. Still possible to get into a good UC?

school? I could take summer courses if necessary. The problem is my grades will probably look something like: A A B C after this semester. Would I eventually be able to get into a school like UCLA?

Prior attendance at a 4-year college does not negatively impact your chance of admission at the UCs.

UCLA transfer admission focuses on grades and completion of your general education and major prerequisite requirements. Make sure you achieve excellent grades and complete all required courses to be competitive.

Orange Coast College participates in the UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (essentially an honors program). Students from the program get additional transfer counseling and have a higher acceptance rate to UCLA. For details see http://www.orangecoastcollege.edu/academics/honors_prog/

Yes, of course you have a chance to get into a UC….even UCLA! Just keep at it and don’t let up on your studies. Call UCLA and ask to speak to an admissions counselor. You need to remember that a lot of kids drop out or leave due to various problems and there are spots to fill. UCLA doesn’t want to have a lot of empty spots in their Soph., Jr. and Senior classes. Go for it!
By the way…I went to USC, but UCLA is an excellent choice. Never give up…and please, call their counselors to make sure you are on track.

I am a college admissions consultant specializing in the admissions process of highly selective California public universities. Aside from advising students, I volunteer with Berkeley and UCLA on high school admissions outreach (I attend college fairs to promote the schools). I also volunteer to score Alumni Scholarship applications and interview the applicants (in the Los Angeles area) for both campuses. I received my BA from Berkeley and I was in a PhD program at UCLA.

I offer free and fee-based services to high school and transfer students who are interested in attending highly selective California public universities.
